Good afternoon Oglala Lakota County School District Staff, Students, and Families. This is Connie Kaltenbach, Superintendent. As we look at the bus temperatures for tomorrow afternoon for students, it looks to be around 100 degrees at the time of dismissal. In an effort to beat the heat, we are going to release the students at 1:00 PM and will start the bus deliveries right away so we can get the students safely home before the high heat. Staff will have a regular day. Bus drivers and bus monitors will not be required to return after their delivery. Lakota Tech High School will post their practice plan on their Facebook page. An August start date always poses these types of concerns and something we will keep in mind for the future.
Again, an early dismissal for all Oglala Lakota County Schools for tomorrow, Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM due to hot bus temperatures for students. This includes: Batesland, Red Shirt, Rockyford, Wolf Creek, Lakota Tech High School, and the Virtual High School.
