Good evening, Oglala Lakota County School District Staff, Students, and Families. This
is Connie Kaltenbach, Superintendent.
April showers are underway for some beautiful May flowers. Parents and guardians, if
your off-road is unpassable, please call your driver and notify the school. We will mark
the students we cannot reach due to bad roads as exempt.
Batesland School:
Monday: 8th grade parent meeting at 5:00 pm in the Batesland School Library.
Tuesday: MAPs Testing Begins! Make sure students come well-rested and ready to
rock testing!
Wednesday: MAP testing continues.
Okȟ.lakičhiye Parent Board Meeting: 5:00 p.m. in the Batesland Library. This meeting
is open to all parents with students at Batesland School.
Thursday: MAP testing continues.
Friday: Early dismissal for students at 1:00 pm.
Red Shirt School: MAP Testing begins on Monday. Get to bed early and get on
the bus.
Monday: MAP Math Testing. Learning at high levels.
Tuesday: MAP Reading Testing. Girls beading after school.
Wednesday: MAP Science Testing.
Thursday: MAP make-up testing. Regular day.
Friday: MAP make-up. Early release for students. Staff PD in afternoon. Feeding South
Dakota Mobile Food Pantry at School from 12:30 to 1:30PM. Come and get some
groceries!
Rockyford School: MAP Testing begins this week. Please make sure the students get
plenty of rest. This is the last week of after-school activities. The 8th-grade banquet is
on Thursday, May 16, at 5 pm. Kindergarten Celebration is May 21 at 10 am, and 8th
Grade Graduation is May 21 at 2 pm.
Monday: Track practice.
Tuesday: Track meet at Little Wound. The track team will leave the school at 9:30.
After school activities.
Wednesday: After-school activities.
Thursday: After-school activities.
Friday: 1 pm dismissal for students. Staff inservice.
Wolf Creek School:
NWEA MAPS Testing begins this week. Please ensure your students are well-rested
and ready to ROCK the test!
Monday: Regular day of learning!
Tuesday: Ms. Dusty’s PreK Field Trip to Run Wild in Rapid City; Kindergarten Ribbon
Skirt Making Lakota Family Engagement Night 5:00-7:30 pm; Pee-Wee Basketball
Tournament for grades 1st-4th starting at 5:30 & 6:30 pm (Brackets will be available at
start of games)
Wednesday: April Birthday Celebrations during lunch: Pee-Wee Basketball
Tournament for grades 1st-4th starting at 5:30 & 6:30 pm (Brackets will be available at
the start of games).
Thursday: “Poetry Slam” evening at 5 pm. Parents & families of 6-8th grade students
welcome.
Friday: Student of the Month Assemblies PreK-2nd: 9-9:30 am; 3-5th: 9:30-10 am; 6-8:
10-10:30 am in the New Cafeteria. 1 pm dismissal for students.
Lakota Tech Events:
• MAP testing will be at Lakota Tech High School on Tuesday and Wednesday this
week, with makeup tests on Thursday and Friday. Please ensure your students
are well rested on time to school, and encourage them to meet the goals they set
for themselves. This is an excellent conversational piece for the dinner table in
asking what their score was in reading, math, science, and language usage
